Experience prior to formation of Energywiz in 1996 includes 8 years as energy manager for Columbia University, preceded by over 12 years as manager or supervisor of energy‑related projects at several private consulting/engineering firms.

Responsibilities while at Columbia (covering 6.5 million sq.ft.) included:

$        controlling energy/water usage for two campuses (annual usage: $20+ million)

project managing various energy and lighting retrofits in 55 buildings

overseeing energy audits and technical studies

developing/enforcing energy standards for equipment purchasing and design

obtaining grants, rebates, and rate reductions for use of high efficiency equipment and methods (exceeding $10 million in 6 years)

analysis and handling of energy data on 34 electrical, 28 gas, and 25 oil accounts (including spot market and futures contracts) using FASER and other software

design review of all major lighting, HVAC, chilled water and steam projects

presenting energy-related programs/reports to senior management, students, faculty, and other staff.
